Anson, George, (1697-1762) Two elongated views on one sheet. At top Capo Blanco bearing SW distant 5 Leagues and at base larger and attractive print Cape Blanco on the coast of Patagonia: bearing S & W 1/2 W distant 4 leagues with boats etc . Modern Argentina. The print was published in London in Anson's Voyage Round the World, 1745. Good margins. Printer's spots across face of print otherwise very good condition. 537mm x 289mm.
NOTE: Famed sailors visited Cabo Blanco, including Magellan, Drake, Cavendish, Van Noort, Shoutern, Le Maire and Darwin. Thus the importance of the print. The name Cabo Blanco (White Cape) was given to the territory by Magellan in 1520

Schle, J V (1715-1779) aka Jacobus van der Schley Mexico Vüe de L'entrée de Chequetan ou Seguataneo and Vüe de L'entrée du Port d'Acapulco recent hand colour two section copper engraved print from the voyages of Admiral of the Fleet George Anson, 1st Baron Anson's (1697-1762) who travelled around the world and as recorded by his chaplain, Richard Walter and published in A Voyage Round the World in 1748. This sheet in French is marked as Supplement to volume XII No 26 to the French version published in Abbe Prevost's Historical Travels in 1747. The print has both views from the seas looking toward the land. Quaint sailing vessels on the water. Un-mounted the print is 460mm x 316mm.
NOTE: Illustrations incomplete
NOTE: Anson was a British admiral and a wealthy aristocrat, noted for his circumnavigation of the globe and his role overseeing the Royal Navy during the Seven Years' War. During his time in office Anson instituted a series of reforms to the Royal Navy.
